All types of horses can benefit from bodywork. Bodywork can reduce muscle tension, improve circulation and locomotor function, and promote relaxation. It can also be helpful in identifying early patterns in muscle over- or under-development that can progress into more serious issues. Performance horses are athletes, and their muscular function is crucial to their performance in the ring, on course, and on the track. They aren’t the only ones who can benefit from bodywork, though! Aging equines, horses with limited turnout, and excitable or anxious horses are also great candidates for bodywork.

Please note that equine bodywork is not a replacement for veterinary care. Equine bodyworkers will not diagnose conditions, attempt any musculoskeletal manipulations, or prescribe medications, nutraceuticals, or supplements.
